Art and Succession: Collections and the Next Collector

Exploring how the next generations can shape the future and legacy of art collections

EK 200

Overview

Carefully assembled over time, art collections can endure long past the visionary who started them. Spouses, the next generation, or museums may become recipients of collections, carrying on the legacy of the original collector while simultaneously leaving their own mark on its present composition and future course.

In this talk, four panelists share their insights having navigated the opportunities and challenges in stewarding a collection that was established by someone else and discuss how “next collectors” can shape the art collections that will come into their care.

TEFAF Talks are interactive panel discussions exploring today’s most fascinating topics in the worlds of art, antiques, and design. Paired with leading content partners, these talks showcase the knowledge of leading experts in the broader TEFAF community. This talk is presented in partnership with Bank of America and moderated by Drew Watson, Head of Art Services at Bank of America.
