About the Work

On the occasion of the centenary of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, Galerie Marcilhac presents, for this exceptional edition of TEFAF Maastricht, a scenography paying tribute to this landmark event in the history of modern decorative arts.

The 1925 Exposition marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of the Art Deco style, solidifying its aesthetic and international influence. A true showcase of luxury and innovation, it revealed the talent of the greatest creators of the era. Among them, Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann stood out, his pavilion embodying the excellence of French craftsmanship.

Drawing inspiration from Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann’s Hôtel du Collectionneur, our stand will feature an outstanding selection of works by the master designer, including a remarkable Pleyel piano commissioned by François Ducharne—head of Soieries F. Ducharne—for his private residence in Paris, designed by architect Pierre Patout. This masterpiece will be displayed alongside other iconic creations, such as carpets, armchairs, guéridons, and a coffee table, all reflecting the perfect balance between refined materials and the pure, elegant lines that defined 1925.

Our space will be further enhanced by monumental lacquered doors by Pierre Dunand, complemented by lacquer panels and vases by his father, Jean Dunand—leading figures in French lacquer art. This ensemble will create a sumptuous setting, recreating the visionary and opulent atmosphere of the legendary exhibition that shaped the history of the decorative arts.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our stand and share this celebration of the creative genius of 1925.
