About the Work

This work on paper, created in 1985, is exceptional for its large format. Here we find all the major principles that marked the maturity of the artist's work in the 1980s: the verticality of the whole, the use of blue - in two shades - and a play on the boundary between figuration and abstraction. The composition is structured in two large flat patches of blue that share the space left and right, almost equally, except for a slight “scratch” of the light blue in the dark blue at bottom center.

This scratch reveals the painter's gesture, like a trace of her action on this very smooth composition. This is where the two different blues meet, transforming one into the other, like a bridge between two worlds, like a horizon line merging sky and sea.
