About the Work

This painting is a special find. The charming, typically Parisian scene, so characteristic of the work of the virtuoso impressionist Isaac Israels, was not shown in public before and has now first appeared on the market. It is an extraordinary addition to Israel's well-known and beloved Parisian oeuvre and it shows one of his favourite places, the Bois de Boulogne park.

Seeking beauty in day-to-day reality was Israels’ mission and he became an expert in capturing a person's essence by a few broad brushstrokes. In this painting, he has succeeded particularly well.
