About the Work

With its minimalist bangle shape, this Orsay bracelet displays relatively understated motifs which unfurl with order and symmetry. Its internal surface paved with diamonds is echoed on the exterior by graphic lines. This structured aesthetic, combining diamonds with colored gems, is typical of the 1990s. Meanwhile, the savoir-faire employed is rooted in the Maison's heritage.

Ever since it was patented in 1933, the Mystery Set has made a major contribution to Van Cleef & Arpels' stylistic identity. By hiding the settings to which the gems are fixed, this technique makes it possible to obtain surfaces of captivating chromatic depth. Here, Traditional Mystery Set rubies contrast with brilliant cut diamonds. The latter form a cross-stitch, evoking another of the Maison's key sources of inspiration: couture. With its harmonious blend of techniques and styles from distinct eras, this creation demonstrates how Van Cleef & Arpels draws on its heritage to devise eclectic works.
