About the Work

Naturalistically carved from a single piece of Russian striated brown agate, modelled in a mating pose known as leking, its head lowered and its tail raised, the eyes set with rose diamonds and the feet of gold, finely modelled and chased.

Contained in its original silk and velvet lined holly wood case, the lid satin stamped ‘St Petersburg, Moscow, Odessa’ in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial warrant.
