About the Work

This very imposing and moving representation of Christ as "Ecce Homo" belongs to the artists mature period. The Museo del Prado has a very similar painting depicting "Christ as a Man of Sorrows" holding the Cross but with the head, position, bust and crown of thorns equal to this image.
