About the Work

In 1975, Jean Dubuffet, then 74 years old, was in a period of intense creativity. He divided his time between Paris and his studio in Périgny-sur-Yerres, in the Val-de-Marne, where he oversaw the production of his large sculptures. During this period, Dubuffet focused on the "Lieux de promenade" series, created over just a few days at the end of August 1975.

The artwork Lieu de promenade III is part of this series, reflecting Dubuffet's exploration of imaginary landscapes. In 2022, Galerie Lelong & Co. in Paris organized an exhibition titled Jean Dubuffet: Paysages et Lieux de Promenade, highlighting this iconic series from 1975.
