About the Work

Omaggio a Rosalba Carriera is a glass art-piece dedicated to the Venetian painter of the XVII century, Rosalba Carriera.

The artist, Lilla Tabasso, after having seen at Gallerie dell'Accademia the last portrait that Carriera did of herself, once aware of the inevitability of her blindness, she felt so moved by it that she used her art and skills to create a magnificent glass bouquet where Rosalba's legacy could be celebrated.

This is why the two main flowers of this composition are indeed roses (Rosalba) and lilacs (Lilla), in order to represent these two talented women and the love for their art.
