About the Work

The Lily Cuff, both in execution and design, is a fruit of Krishna Choudhary’s fascination with the aesthetic of the Mughal court complimented by Islamic rules of composition. The bracelet’s silhouette is formed by a continuous openwork pattern of chevron waves decorated with floating lilies. Enriched with diamond pavé, diligently set one by one onto the metal, the dynamism of the waves invites their continuation into infinity as they curve around the wrist.

The design is elevated by the use of platinum, adding gravitas to the piece both metaphorically and literally. Inspired by the Mughal predilection for chevron patterns matched with floral motifs, the naturalistic forms are somewhat contrasted with the significance of geometry and its divine interpretation on the Safavid court, influences from which were prominent on the subcontinent. The moval-cut diamonds, set to from lily buds atop of the waves, thus, enhance the theme, teleporting to a Garden of Paradise.
