Maastricht, February 27, 2025 – TEFAF (The European Fine Art Foundation), organiser of the world’s leading art and antiques fairs, has announced a landmark loan exhibition featuring Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces from the renowned Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples. This extraordinary presentation at next month’s TEFAF Maastricht will showcase a curated selection of works that exemplify the grandeur, drama, and technical brilliance of these defining artistic periods. TEFAF Maastricht runs from March 15-20, 2025, with preview days, March 13 and 14, by invitation only.
Housed in the former royal palace of the Bourbon dynasty, the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte is celebrated for its astonishing collection, which includes Italian Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, as well as Flemish paintings, European porcelain, and an extensive archive of works on paper. The collection reflects centuries of artistic patronage and cultural exchange, bringing together works acquired by the Farnese, Borgia, and Bourbon families over generations.
For TEFAF Maastricht, Capodimonte will present an exceptional selection of paintings by some of Italy’s most revered artists and sculptors, including Tiziano Vecellio, Artemisia Gentileschi, Giovanni Paolo Panini, and Giambologna. These works, rich in emotional intensity, luminous naturalism, and dynamic composition, will offer audiences a rare opportunity to engage with the genius of Italy’s artistic heritage outside of Naples.
“This unprecedented presentation underscores Capodimonte’s commitment to sharing its treasures with the world, while reinforcing TEFAF’s role as a vital platform for cultural exchange and discovery,” said Ugo Pierucci, Chairman of TEFAF. “We are proud to host these extraordinary works and to celebrate the enduring relevance of historical masterpieces in today’s artistic discourse.”
“We are delighted and proud to participate in Tefaf Mastricht. This prestigious fair brings together the major international ‘key opinion leaders’ from the art world, including directors and curators, collectors, scholars and experts,” said Dr. Eike Schmidt, director of Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte. “For the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte it is therefore an excellent opportunity to make the importance of its collections and their history better known to the world. A centuries-old history that tells of Naples, Italy and Europe through its famous masterpieces.”
In bringing these Renaissance and Baroque icons to Maastricht, TEFAF reaffirms its dedication to fostering dialogue between institutions, collectors, and art lovers worldwide. Curated in collaboration with Capodimonte’s esteemed scholars and the Italian State, the exhibition stands as a testament to the museum’s legacy of artistic excellence and its ongoing mission to make its collection accessible to new audiences.
KMSKA, Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp Presents Highlights of Belgian Modernism at TEFAF

This year’s edition of TEFAF Maastricht also showcases an exceptional loan exhibition from KMSKA, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (Belgium). As Flanders' premier museum, KMSKA offers a world-class collection of old and modern masters, captivating scenography, and an iconic building that together create a unique cultural experience.
Located on the first floor of the fair, the exhibition highlights three pivotal figures of Belgian Modernism: the groundbreaking James Ensor, the vibrant Fauvist Rik Wouters, and the innovative futurist Jules Schmalzigaug. KMSKA holds the largest collection in the world of all three artists. Additionally, the exhibition will offer visitors an exclusive glimpse into the groundbreaking scientific insights of the Ensor Research Project, a collaboration between KMSKA and the University of Antwerp, furthering understanding of Ensor’s revolutionary techniques and artistic legacy.
TEFAF Maastricht will take place from March 15 – 20, 2025 (by invitation March 13 and 14) welcoming leading galleries, institutions, and collectors from around the globe. The Capodimonte and KMSKA loan exhibitions will be among the highlights of this year’s fair, offering visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the splendor of both Italian Renaissance and Baroque art as well as Belgian Modernism in an unparalleled setting.
